Expecto Captiono (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Review)

Okay, so not going to lie, I spent way too much time trying to come up with a fun title for this review and this is what we got. I promise though that the rest of the review will be a lot better than this title.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I have every single Harry Potter movie downloaded on my laptop and we were the family that would preorder the books and fight over who would read the books first when they came out. When I heard that they were doing a play based on the epilogue in the final book, I was immediately interested in excited. As a disclaimer, I would suggest not reading the Cursed Child book if you think it's going to be cheesy. Just reading it, it does come off that way, but the way it's delivered on the stage it makes more sense.

Weekly Roundup (12/23-12/29)

Happy holiday week y'all! This week was so eventful, it felt like two weeks instead of one. My family flew up to NYC on Monday to spend Christmas with me and we had such a blast. They were able to go see the tree at Rockefeller Center and the lights on 5th avenue. We ended Monday night at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center to get a drink and see the amazing views it has to offer. For Christmas Day we spent the day walking around Central Park and going to the zoo and then seeing the Rockettes that evening.

NYE Outfits

I can't believe 2020 is right around the corner. It's weird to think that this was supposed the be the year I was going to graduate from Physical Therapy school, but life has a weird way of changing plans and leading you to a place that's so much better than you could imagine.

I honestly don't have any plans for New Year's Eve yet, but I'm excited to show you guys some fun options for NYE outfits from some of my favorite retailers.

Hey Little Songbird (Hadestown Review)

I did my Spotify wrapped list the other day and Anaïs Mitchell was my most played artist of the year and Hadestown is my most played album. Honestly I'm not surprised. I am obsessed with this musical. This is pretty up there with my obsession with Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 (if you haven't heard of that musical, please listen to the cast recording immediately).

I first heard about this show back in 2016 through Amber Gray's bio in Great Comet, as she was in the workshops and off broadway run of Hadestown but didn't think much of it until I saw that they were doing a pre-Broadway run in Toronto. Then I started to look more into it, but again didn't think much of it. I thought the concept would be interesting to see and just decided that it was tragic that I didn't know about it when it was off-Broadway.

Christmas in NYC

I can't believe this is my third Christmas in NYC. NYC is my favorite city in the country. This is why I worked so hard for the opportunity to move up here. NYC becomes more magical during the holiday season. The city does a great job representing all the cultures and their holiday seasons and that's one of the amazing parts of NYC is all the different cultures I've learned about.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, so of course I take advantage of all that the city has to offer during the Christmas season. When people think of Christmas time in NYC they automatically think of Rockefeller Center with the Christmas tree and Sak's fifth avenue. While these things are great, especially for first time in NYC during the holiday season, the city has so much more to offer. Below I've listed some of my favorite NYC Christmas activities and places to visit. I hope y'all get the chance to see them!

Weekly Roundup 12/8-12/14

Holiday season is up and running non-stop y'all. I feel like I've been going non-stop between all the holiday parties for work and family coming in. I spent today hanging out with my aunt, who I haven't seen in two years. We went to see the Christmas festivities on fifth avenue and we saw the show Jagged Little Pill.

Last night, I was honored to be selected to attend a gala for our work industry. For those that don't know I work for an outsourcing direct marketing company and some of our clients sponsored a gala for us and the top 10% who aren't managers were invited to attend also. It was so much fun and I enjoyed being able to see some of the managers from around the world that I haven't seen in a while.

This week will be back to a normal week as I begin to prepare for my family to come in the Monday after next for Christmas. I can't wait to spend my first Christmas in NYC and actually have a cold Christmas.

Book Review Part II

Honestly one of the reasons I'm able to read as many books as I do is because of library cards and ebooks. If you have a library card, but don't have the time to pick up and drop off books, public libraries now have an app called Libby where you can check out ebooks and read them on your mobile devices. This is how I was able to read Michelle Obama's amazing biography and the books that I reviewed below.

Sincerely, Me (Dear Evan Hansen July 2018)

Tee: Dear Evan Hansen//Jeans: J Crew Factory//Shoes: Adidas

Last summer was shows galore for me. I have to say that even I was even starting to get a little overwhelmed by all the shows I've seen recently, but that's what's so great about living in New York City. You get to see shows whenever you feel like it and when one of my friends got us tickets to the Actors Fund Special Performance of Dear Evan Hansen, I jumped at the opportunity.
